  8.   Alice Corbett Roskelly. Letter from Alice Corbett Roskelly to Mrs. Vera F. Hoffman. (Unpublished hand-written personal letter, 25 Feb 1964, Smithfield, Utah).

    Mrs. Vera H. Hoffman,

My dearest cousin Vera I was over joyed to find your dear letter writen by your very own hand. It has stired my memory of the very happiest time of my life; and I will never forget those dear days. I think so often of your dear Angle Mother, who I loved dearly. She was indeed a mother to me. So patient, and kind. I never knew of her ever doing anunkind act.
You girls were just like sisters to me. And I will always loveyou as such. You all made me feel like your home was my home. And I am still grateful for the memories we shared together. And I thank you all. I have always felt I would like to pay you back in some nice way. This fast changing world. We have drifted apart and our lives have been so differant (sic).
I have had a wonderful life. I raised a large family. They are all fine men. And my one daughter. They are all grand to me in every way they can be. I have been poor and had to work hard to keep on top.
The Lord has surely blessed me in so many ways. I have had a wonderful life. George was a grand husband; and a wonderful father. I was saddened by his passing so suddenly. He left me a nice comfortable home and a little money to keep going on...
I am quite well and take care of my home . I still enjoy working and trying to keep my place clean. I have had bad legs, but I keep going.
I am going to miss Ida very much. But when the Lord calles (sic) them home we have to say thy will not mine.
I have the seven boys and one girl. They all have nice families and they are all married fine girls. one suninlaw (sic). I have 32 grandchildren. Some of them are married and I have 16 great-grandchildren. I am very pleased with my families.
I would like the picture you have of me. If you will send it I will send you the postage.
We have had a long cold snowy winter. And it is still cold and snowy. It doesn't look like we will ever have spring.
I hope you write me again. Thanking you for thinking of me I will always love you and be glad to hear from you. Love to you bothe (sic).
