"Sarah (Bartlett) Balcom mentions 'cousin' (Niece) Alice Cass, wife of John Cass. The Bartlett genealogy states that Alice, sister of Sarah (Bartlett) Balcom m. John Cass, which is evidently an error [emphasis added], for John Cass, of Mendon, and Alice Brown of Bellingham, were m. Smithfield, R.I., Feb. 18, 1735/6. She was the daughter of James Brown, of Bellingham, who undoubtedly m. Alice Bartlett. James Brown was an overseer of the above mentioned will."
