Died as a result of penicillin poisoning. This was a new drug and the be all and end all of drugs. After he cut his leg in stagnant water and got an infection the doctor injected him with penicillin. When this did not seem to be working he was given another injection to which he had an allergy. This led to a long and slow death. The doctor who gave the injection committed suicide shortly after the second injection.
