A.A. Kearney Succumbs To Infirmities of Old Age at M.E. Hospital
Alfred Allen Kearney was born near Boston, Mass., December 2, 1855, and died at the Methodist hospital in Scottsbluff Neb., at 7:40 in the afternoon as the western sun was sinking in the sky, June 13, 1933, age 77 years, 6 months, and 11 days. His parents were William A. Kearney and Emelie Redmond Kearney. At an early age his parents moved to Onarga, Ill., and engaged in farming. It was here that he received his early training. He afterward attended Oberlin College, Oberlin, Oh. After attending college he entered a law office at Ripley, Ia., and took his law examinations at Jefferson, Ia., the county seat, which procedure was the custom in those days. He then moved to Stanton, Neb., and engaged in his chosen profession at that place from 1883-1910, when he moved to Morrill, Neb. to be near his boys who were engaging in the lumber business in Morrill.
He married, October 5, 1883, to Jennie Sarah Manning, of Jefferson, Ia., and to this union were born two sons; Charles M. Kearney and Orlando H. Kearney, both of Morrill. His loving wife preceded him in death by not quite six months, having passed away December 28, 1932. Mr. Kearney's health began failing after the sudden death of his wife.
He leaves to mourn his passing; two sons, Charles and Orlando; five grand children; Charles Chace Kearney and Alan Alfred Kearney, children of Charles M. Kearney and Jessie Chace Kearney; Robert William Kearney, Phillip Gordon Kearney, and Mayrene Isabel Kearney; children of Orlando H. Kearney and Mable Irene Bentley Kearney; also his brother, William H.
