Alfred was born Oct 8, 1928 on a farm outside of Quincy, KS. He later earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Emporia State University in 1950. He later completed his doctorate in biochemistry in 1956. He then began a 38 year association with Emporia State University as a professor of chemistry. He loved to sing and was a member of several choirs. He married Helen Margaret Hawley on Dec. 19, 1948 in Howard, KS. He is survived by two sons, Alfred T. "Ted" Ericson of Lincoln, NE and John Quincy Ericson of Tempe, AZ and a brother, Arthur William Ericson of Paola, KS
