John Fairfull SMITH 1st married 1831 or 12jun1830 Caroline TURNER (possibly born 8oct1808 in Edinburgh or abroad and died 2jan1849 in Glasgow) and 2nd married, 10jan1850, in Dumfries and Barony, Alexandrina THOMSON. Alexandrina was born abt 1830 at Dumfries (1851 census). In 1851 John (b. 1807 Glasgow), secretary of the Glasgow and Sth Western Railway, wife Alex (b. 1830 Dumfries), and John G. (b. 1833), Edward T. (b. 1836), William B. (b. 1837), Reginald K. (b. 1841), Algernon W. (b. 1843), Alice C. F. (b. 1846) and Henry M. Smith (b. 1847) lived at 140 Bath St., Glasgow (ce). According to his will, registered in 1868, John was „writer to Signet, formerly secretary to the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company and stockbroker in Glasgow, residing in Glasgow, wife is Alexandrina Thomson or Smith, son is Edward Turner Smith“. Will of Alexandrina Monilaws Fairfull Smith (d. 23apr1913) widow of The Pleasance Louth, reg Lincolnshire; probate 7jul1913 London, 1964 gbp, Philip Allison solicitor (National Probate Calendar). John Fairfull Smith, W. S., of Old Auchindraine, Ayrshire, and Westfield, Dunbartonshire was a Commissioner of Supply in both counties. John purchased Auchindrane in 1856 and built a noble mansion. Mr. Smith married 1st Caroline Turner, 3rd daughter of Dutton Smith Turner, of Clarendon, Jamaica, and 2nd Alexandrina Monilaws Thomson, 2nd daughter of William Thomson of Woodhouse, Dumfriesshire (J.
