    The "Frederick Herald" of Jan 31, 1935, carried the following obituary: "Died Tuesday 6 Janary 1835, at his residence on Sams Creek Alexander Warfield in his 71st year of his age. For nealy half a centruy he had been a member of the M.E. Church..."

    Served in House of Delegates, 1819-1820; Federalist. Chair, Frederick County Federal Republican Committee. Active in Methodist Church in region, and follower of Robert Strawbridge, one of the earliest Methodist preachers in America. Hosted Strawbridge's congregation at his house for many years, starting around 1800. Later donated land for Bethel Chapel (later Bethel United Methodist Church), 1821. Owned 770 acres of land at his death in what is now Carroll County.
