Mr. Francis Alexander Middleton, Rose Farm, Cromarty, died suddenly on Saturday.About 43 years of age, he was the youngest son of the late Alexander Allardyce Middleton, Rose Farm, and a great grandson of George Middleton, a Northumbrian farmer, who went to Ross-shire in 1789 to introduce new farming methods. His mother hailed from Thurso, being a sister of the late Rev. Dr. Walter Ross Taylor.Educated privately and at the College Inverness, Mr. Middleton, following his father's death in 1910, carried on the neighbouring family farm of Newton until Whitsunday,1934, and Rose Farm until his death. A skilled agriculturist, he kept a herd of pedigree Shorthorns at Newton. Otherwise his stock was commercial cattle and sheep.In 1931 he married Miss Effie Lumsden, Cromwell Park, Perth. His eldest brother is Sir Thomas Middleton, agricultural scientist .Other members of the family are Mr. Walter Ross Taylor Middleton, solicitor Dingwall, and Mr. Kenneth Middleton, mining engineer, London, and formerly in Spain. Of four sisters, one is the wife of Mr. W.H. Blyth Martin, former Town-Clerk of Dundee.

(1842 Thurso) was a visitor at Govan (census). In 1901 Alexander and Esther were at Rosefarm hse (census).
