Notes

Alexander McFarland was at the battle of Point Pleasant in 1774 and served under Col. Christian in the Revolution, fighting against Indians. He was born about 1750 according to pension papers and was receiving his pension in Augusta Co. from 1788 to 1793, then Russell Co. VA 1798 to 1804, when pension payments stopped and it is assumed he died. This would make the death date of 1804 apply to the younger Alexander, not the elder. He was also in VA when he signed a petition in 1785 to form Russell Co. from Washington Co. VA.
