     Alexander McCreary, son of John McCreary and Margaret Black of Augusta and Bath Counties VA, was born born 10 Feb 1793 in Clark Co KY. All of Alex’s siblings were born in KY. Alex married Ann Harrell in Ohio Co KY on 23 March 1813. She was born in Nelson Co in 1798. Both Alex and Ann lived in Franklin Co IL and died there. He died in 1882 and Ann in 1886. They had a large family, all born in in Cave Twp, Franklin Co-

a. Julia Emily McCreary, b 19 Aug 1819, married Samuel King Casey in Franklin Co on 1 Sep 1839 in Franklin Co. He was born in TN in 1817, and they lived in Franklin Co. Julia died in the 1850s, perhaps at the birth of John J, and the boy was reared for a while by Julia’s parents. Julia and Sam had at least five children, all born in Franklin Co-

     4.   John Jay Casey, b 8 Nov 1851, lived with his McCreary grandparents in 1860. He married Ada Root in Franklin Co on 24 Dec 1872, but she probably died within three years because in 1880 John’s wife was Mary J Smith. In 1880 they were living next door to Joel Marshal McCreary (son of John Warren McCreary and Mary Elizabeth Pace), and wife Joel’s wife Isabella L Slawson. John’s second wife, Mary J Smith, was born in 1856 in IL; they were married in Franklin Co 13 Jan 1875. They had a son-

b. John Warren McCreary, b 1822, married Mary Elizabeth Pace on 31 Aug 1843 in Jefferson Co and they lived near Thompsonville, Franklin Co. Warren died after 1880. They had at least five children. (M33,M32,203Nm,216nqrs)

c. Caroline W McCreary, b 1825, married Mardone P MItchell in 1844 in Franklin Co and they moved to Williamson Co (the next county to the south). in 1860 they were in Jackson Co. In 1870 they were in Williamson Co. M P was born in IL about 1820. They had eight children by 1870-

     1.   Sarah Mitchell, b 1847, was missed in the 1850 census. 

     2.   Harriet Ann Mitchell, b 1848, was missed in the 1860 cernsus. She married Wm Henry Lewis in Williamson Co on 27 Oct 1865. (183nm)

f. Cyrus McCreary, b 1831, married Sarah Ann Elstun in Franklin Co on 8 Jan 1856. She was born in 1836 in IL, daughter of Ralph Elstun from OH and Mary C _____ from IL. They had two children-

g. Sidney A McCreary, b 1836, married William C Elstun in Franklin Co on 7 Apr 1853. He was born in 1832 in IL, son of Ralph Elstun from OH and Mary C _____ from IL. They lived in Perry Co and had four children-
