[Source, http://www.robertsewell.ca/livingston.html] Alexander Livingston's elder brother James Livingston was the 2nd Lord Livingston of Callendar. James was declared insane, barred from marriage, and died without issue. Alexander's son James became the 3rd Lord Livingston of Callendar in 1497.

   VII. Alexander Livingston of Callendar, of whom nothing is known beyond the fact that he was the second son of James, first Lord Livingston, and the father of James, the third lord. The name of his wife is unknown. He was deceased previous to 1 November 1472, and during his lifetime of his elder brother James, the second lord. He had issue a son James.
