The following is from Ruth Gray who has long been involved in researching the Gray Families: Alexander Gray, s. of George & Sarah b.---,bpt. As an adult, 1st Church Berwick, 15 July 1716. (NHGR v.82: 77) m. c. 1705, Elizabeth Thompson, dau. of John & Sarah (Emery) Thompson. d. 1725, Berwick. (Estate probated 7.4.1725: YCP v.3: 158) NO WILL. Alexander & wife moved “into the wilderness” in 1717. When he died she was left with 4 small sons and 3 girls. The division of his estate was made by the court 15 Oct. 173, amongst Widow, sons JOHN, ALEXANDER, NEHEMIAH, DANIEL, and daughters ABIGAIL, ANNE, LYDIA. In 1762 widow Elizabeth petitioned the court to sell some land, stating that all of her children were dead but one, who lived in New Hampshire. (This was Anne who married 1749, William Stackpole. (YCD v.39: 52) DANIEL GRAY, s. of Alexander & Elizabeth (Thompson) Gray, bpt. 12 June 1726, 1st Church Berwick, as son of “Widow” Gray. Married 1745, Mary Walker. They had a son William bpt. Berwick 1755. |
