Shelby Co., KY Deeds: This Indenture made this 19th day of October 1813 between Alexander Eakin of Shelby County and State of Kentucky of the one part and Thomas Gill of the County of Jefferson and State aforesaid of the Other part witnesseth as follows to wit: that whereas the same Thomas Gill purchased of Charles Lynch or his Attorney Stephen Smith one tract of land containing one hundred and four acres it being a part of a survey in the name of John Campbell containg [containing] 1144 acres in the county aforesaid and whereas the Sheriff of Shalby County on the ___ day of ___ Exposed the said tract of land to sale in the name of ____ to satisfy and Execution against said Lynch and whereas the same was purchased by John Brown and sold by said Brown on the 14th day of October to Alexander Eakin for the benefit of the purchasers under said Lunch the said proprietors haveing paid the consideration to said Brown in Consideration whereof and for the further Consideration of one cents to said Eakin in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold released unto said Gill all the right title Inteest and claim which he hath under the conveyance of said Brown to the following tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and four acres more or less and bounded as follows to wit: Begining at a leech? in the line of David Williams survey of One thousand acres and running with said leare? South 35 West one hundred and sixty six poles to two leeches in Alwiers and to __ line thence with the same west One hundred and Eight poles to an ash corner to Moses Perry thence with Perry's line north 200 poles to two leeches and sugartree corner to John Perrys thence with line East 168 poles to three leeches corner to said John Perrys thence south fifty six poles to a walnut and Gum Thence East thirty eight poles to the Begining, to have and to hold the said tract of land to the said Thomas Gill and his heirs and assigns forever and the said Alexander Eakin for himself his heirs, Executiorss and administrators down hereby convey and release to the said Thomas Gill his heirs and assigns all the right title and claim of and to the aforesaid tract or parcel of land which said Eakin acquire by the said conveyance from the aforesaid Brown and said Eakin doth covenant to defend the said claim against himself his heirs &c. Back against the claims or claim of no other person or persons it being the intent of this deed to place said Gill in the place of the aforesaid Eakin as to the alone described parcel of land and that no kind of after Responsibility is to be on the said Eakin should the said land be taken by the claim of any other person of any part thereof in witness whereof the said Alexander Eakin hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.

Alexander Eakin is likely the brother of James Eakin of Shelby County, Kentucky. Alexander served as the Administrator of James Eakin's estate in Shelby County in abt. 1812.
