Alexander CRUM was b. Abt 1839 at Eastwood (census). Alexander Crum-Maclae, 5th of Cathkin, was a Glasgow writer. He probably inherited the Ewing and Crum inheritance when Jean, wife of Humphrey Ewing Maclae, 4th of Cathkin, died in 1874 (Glasgow Herald, 1893). Alexander Crum (no. 16570, mat 1855) filius natu maximus Joannis armigeri de Auldhouse in parochia de Eastwood et comitatu de Renfrew; Alexander Crum Maclae (d. 11Sep1910, age 71, Glasgow, unm) of Cathkin; Glasgow writer (Matriculation Albums, Glasgow University).
