- Will of Alexander Chovin
- In the Name of God Amen the Twelve day of July in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and fifty Two, I Alexander Chovine of the Parish of St. James Santee in the Province of South Carolina Planter being Sick and weak in body but of a Sound and perfect mind and Memory thanks be to God for Same do for avoiding Controversies after my decease make & Ordain this my last will and Testament in manner & form following that is to Say first and Principally I recommend my Soul to God who have it and my body I Commit to the Earth to be burried in a decent and Christian like manner by my Executors herein after named in hopes of a Joyful Resurrection and to receive free Pardon and forgiveness of all my Sins in and through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our blessed Lord & Saviour And as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me withal, I do give devise & dispose thereof in manner and form following viz.
- Imprimis I will and desire that all my Just debts and funeral Charges be first paid & discharged by my Executors as Soon as the Same can be Conveniently done.
- Item I give devise & bequeath unto my well beloved Son Alexr. Chovin all my two Plantations on the South Side of Santee River whereon I now Lives Containing three hundred & Eighty Acres of land which I purchased of Mr. John Deliesseline with all the houses Outhouses Barns buildings woods underwoods Trees Timber Trees thereon with the ways Paths Water, Water Courses Priviledges Hereditaments and Appourtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging the said Plantation of Tract of Land to be Possessed and enjoyed ~~ by my said Son Alexander Chovin when he Arrives to the age of twenty and one years to him his heirs and Assigns forever.
- Item I give & bequeath unto be welbeloved Children Sarah Chovin, Alexander Chovin, Esther Chovin, Elizabeth Chovin and Ann Chovin all my Personal Estate to be enjoyed & Possessed by them said Five Children by them and their heirs Share and Share alike to be equally divided between them my said Son Alexander to Receive his Share at the age of twenty one years, my four daughters before mentioned to Receive their Shares as they arrive to the age of twenty one years of at the day of Marriage if it should first happen.
- Item I do hereby authorize & Impower my Executors hereafter Named to Sell my Plantation on the North Side of Santee River which I purchased of Mr. Isaac Chovin & containing two hundred Acres of Land the said Plantation to be Possessed by the Person purchasing the same to him and his heirs & Assigns forever.
- item I order that one horse named Jolly and all such Tools and Household goods as shall be thought less useful to my Estate to be sold and the Money of that and also of the Plantation shall be to enable my Executors to pay all my Lawful Debts.
- Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint Mr. John Dutarque of St. Thomas Parish and Mr. Isaac Dubose & Mr. Andrew Rembert of Santee Executors hereby making Void all other wills by me heretofore made declaring this to me my last Will & Testament.

- Signed Sealed & declared by the Testator as his last Will & Testament in the Presence of Us the Subscribers who by his request have Signed as Witnesses thereunto the word making making being Interlined before the Insealing hereof

- This Will was Proved before the Ordinary the 29th day of Octr. 1756 at Same time qualified Mr. Paul Saudon Admr. with the will annexed the three Execrs. named in the Will having by Writings under their hands Refused to Act & renounced the Execution.
