    Callander, Alexander (3), A.M., a Scotch clergyman, took his degree at the University of St. Andrews in 1621, and was admitted minister at Denny in 1627. A violent flood in 1636 destroyed much of his parish. At the battle of Kilsyth, in 1645, he had protection from the marquis of Montrose. He died in September, 1663, aged about sixty-three years.     "Alexander Calandar, M.A. (St Andrews, 21st July 1621); adm. before 22nd Feb. 1627 ; had a protection from Marquess of Montrose after Battle of Kilsyth in 1645; died Sept. 1663, aged about 63. He left 10 merks for repairing the Brouster-burn Bridge of Denny. He marr. Catherine Blackwood, who predeceased him, and had issue — Richard, min. of Cockburnspath ; John, min. of this parish ; Jean."
