Alexander Adams, b. _____? 1614 about, at Colchester, Eng., possibly; d. January 15 (or 17), 1677, at Boston, Mass., aged 63 and was buried in Copp's Hill Burying Ground, Boston, Mass., gravestone. He lived in Boston and was a shipwright; he bought a house there in 1645; he was made a freeman of Boston, May 10, 1648; he was a member of the Artillery Company in 1652; he was a member of the First Church, Boston, he and his wife having been admitted to communion therein 31 (3) 1646; he was dismissed to the church at Dorchester for a season. His children are all recorded as born in Boston (Savage, however, states that his second child (Susanna Adams) was born in Dorchester). Administration on his estate was granted having been admitted to communion therein 31 (3) 1646; he was dismissed to the church at Dorchester for a season. Administration on his estate was granted unto his widow Feb. 28, 1677-8. Suffolk County, Mass., Deeds 13, pp. 222-23, gives the division of his estate as of August 28, 1684 [all of his children then being of mature age] amongst Caleb Stratton, William Parkman, Samuel Saxton and Samuel Adams, the only [surviving] son of Alexander Adams.
