From the June 6, 1958, edition of the Wisconsin Rapids (WI) Daily Tribune Alex M. Fechhelm, 69, Dies at Marshfield MARSHFIELD -- Alex M. Fechhelm, 69, a former storekeeper in Nekoosa, died at his home here Thursday after an illness of two years. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday in St. John's Catholic Church, with a nephew, the Rev. Richard Fechhelm, Racine, officiating. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery. Friends may call at the Rembs Funeral Home beginning at 7 pm Saturday. Mr. Fechhelm has lived at Marshfield in retirement for the past 15 years after operating a store at Nekoosa for 20 years. Previously he had operated a store in Marshfield for three years and farmed for 10 years at Exeland. He was born at Hewitt Sept. 1, 1883. His marriage took place at Marshfield in January 1910 to Hannah Bloomer, who died in May 1922. His second marriage at Wisconsin Rapids was to Emma Macha, who survives him. During his residence at Nekoosa, Mr. Fechhelm was a member of the city's volunteer fire department. Survivors besides his wife are two sons, Herbert, Marshfield, and Richard, Charlotte, N.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Sherman Connelly, Clinton, Iowa, Mrs. Gary Scheller, Marshfield, and Mrs. Robert Kohr, Milwaukee; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Roman, Milwaukee, and Fred, Mayville. |
