However See:Ancestry According to Wikipedia: Duke of Cumberland is a peerage title that was conferred upon junior members of the British Royal Family, named after the county of Cumberland. However, if "Duke of Cumberland" is truly the person involved, then this does not look at all sound
Each of the above died without heirs, and the peerage was recreated anew for the successor. In any case, none of these peers could have fought a duel with Aldrovane. Perhaps more to the point, the ENglish occupation of Calais ended thirty years prior to this duel. Neither Aldrovane, nor the Duke of Cumberland, nor the Earl of Cumberland, could have been stationed in the British Garrison at Calais, for the simple reason that there were no British forces there after 1558.
