Albert Whitfield was born in 1867 in Banks County, Georgia and died in 1917. If I counted them correctly, Albert s father Asbury or "Berry" had 7 children by his first wife Nancy Allred and 8 children by my ancestor Rebecca Murray. His oldest child was born in 1840 and his youngest in 1875 so I have a lot of Whitfield cousins. The 1880 census provides a good snapshot of the family with 12 of his 15 children living on the farm with Berry and Rebecca from ages 29 down to 5 (our Albert was 12).

Albert Whitfield's first marriage was to Lula Varnell , who died when my grandmother (Mattie) Sue was still a young child. His second marriage was to Carrie Greeson and they had three sons, Hubert, Carlton and Byron. Albert Whitfield is buried in SpringPlace Cemetery, Chatsworth, Georgia.--JMG 08:22, 3 December 2011 (EST)
