INJURY IS FATAL TO IONA FARMER
Albert Pelava Dies Friday From Injuries Sustained at Farm.
Funeral Conducted Saturday Morning at Church in Browerville.
Abert Pelava, well known Iona farmer, died Thursday at the Long Prairie hospital, the result of injuries sustained two days before at his farm.
In some manner Mr. Pelava sustained an abdominal injury while planting. Taken to the hospital it developed his condition was such an operation could not be performed and he succumbed a short time later.
Mr. Pelava was born April 26, 1860, (continued on page 5, column 1)
in Skosson, Germany. As a young man he served in the German army three years. Fifty-two years ago he came to the United States and for a time was employed as a section man on the railroad and in the saw mills at Ashland, Wis. He came to Todd county 42 years ago and from that time to his death lived on the same farm in Iona. For 20 years he served his township as assessor and he was widely known in that community.
Thrice married, Mr. Pelava was first wed to Pauline Kasmarek, the date of whose death The Leader has been unable to learn. Surviving children from this marriage are Stephan of Minneapolis, Frank of St. Paul, Tony of Staples and Mrs. Edward M. Jackson of Los Angeles, Calif., none of whom were able to be present at the funeral.
Mr. Pelava was married to Bertha Bruder and surviving this union are an adopted son, Philip Warzeha of Minneapolis and John of Moran.
Following the death of Mrs. Pelava, Mr. Pelava was later married to Agnes Konietzene, who with the following children survive: Peter of Nashwauk, Aloysius and Ann of Minneapolis, Joseph, Justine and George Lucille and Mary preceded the father in death.
Mr. Pelava is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Francis Warsetha of St. Louis Park and a brother, Philip Pelava of Eagle Bend.
Funeral rites were conducted Saturday morning at St. Joseph's church in Browerville with the pastor, Rev. Fr. Kuzniak officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the rites included Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ulrick, Mrs. Thomas ?aglo and Mrs. Francis Waretha of St. Louis Parl, Mr. amd Mrs. Frank Warzetha, Ted Warzetha and Martin Gruz of Waverly, Mrs. Sophie Pelava and four daughters, Albena, Mildred, Leona and Phyllis and John Diebel of Minneapolis, Mrs. Katie Scrupa and Mrs. Wallace Scrupa and daughter of Motley, Mr. and Mrs. August Kleun and Mrs. Peter Motzo and son, Vincent, of Staples, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Pelava and sons, George, Frank and Raymond of Eagle Bend.
