Albert was born in Livingston, Oct. 6, 1929 to Mildred Hale and Rowland Russell Kimpton of Crow Creek Valley. His early life was spent on the family ranch, which dated from the 1860s. It was the same ranch he managed until his death. He attended elementary school in Crow Creek Valley and graduated from Broadwater County High School in 1947. He attended Montana State University for one year before returning to the family ranch. On May 4, 1949, Albert married Lois Johnson, his high-school sweetheart. They would have celebrated their 57th anniversary this May. Albert is survived by his wife Lois; his brother, Jack Kimpton; his daughter Kathleen; and his sons David, Steve and Clifford. He is blessed with 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rowland and Mildred, and his brother, William. Albert was very active in Broadwater County. He served on the Soil Conservation Board and the Rodeo and Fair Board for many years. He was a member of the Crow Creek School Board for five years. One of his passions was golfing; and, with a close friend, Jim Vick, he was instrumental in the early planning and construction of the Townsend Golf Course. At the age of 12, Albert began training horses; and at the age of 50, he started competition team roping. Team roping and horse training remained his passion the rest of his life. He shared his love for horses with his close friend and mentor, Al Grandchamp. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at the 4H Building at the fairgrounds. Graveside committal will follow at Radersburg Cemetery. Family requests donations to a charity of your choice. Connors Funeral Home assisted the family with the services.
