    Alfred's address at the time of his death was 207 Brinkerhoff Moberly, Mo. He passed away at Woodland Hospital in Moberly, Mo. He was a sandblaster at a Monument Works.

    PLACED FLAGS AT GRAVE FOR 40 YEARS

    BERT CRUMRINE, VETERAN OF WORLD WAR I, DIES AT 70

    Albert J. (Bert) Crumrine, 207 Brinkerhoff street, died at 7:20 o'clock yesterday morning at Woodland Hospital after becoming a patient Saturday. He had worked as usual Friday at Stevenson Memorials, Inc., where he had been employed as a sandblaster for the past 21 years, and was downtown Saturday morning before becoming suddenly ill.

    For 47 years, Mr. Crumrine, 70-year old veteran of World War I, had made it his personal project to place flags at the graves of all war veterans in Moberly cemeteries each Memorial Day. He began doing Legion post and the Foreign Wars have shared the cost of the wreaths and flags.

    The personal satisfaction meant a great deal to Crumrine, he said once, adding; "I really feel a lot better after the job's done. You feel like they might know it... like they might say "Thanks Buddy."

    Born April 8, 1894 in Moberly, Mr. Crumrine was a son of the late Amos L. and Lena Crumrine. He was educated in the Moberly schools.

    He was a member of the St. Pius X Church, the Holy Name Society, American Legion and VFW. He had served as post chaplain of the VFW for the past six years. His World War I service was with the 355th Infantry of the 5th division,

    Surviving are one step-brother-in-law, Ed Huncker, St. Charles.

    The body is at the Million and Greer Funeral Home. Rosary will be said at 7:30 o'clock tonight in the chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning in the St. Pius X Church by Msgr. John C. Mahoney. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. VFW Post 2654 will provide a color guard for the service.
