  15. "Doctor A. M. Bleile, was a professor of physiology at Ohio stateuniversity. Bleile, on the verge of dissecting a dog, is the subject ofa caricature George Bellows, as a student at the university, drew aroundthe turn of the century."
  16. "A. M. Bleile, the elder son, was born June 26, 1856, in Columbus andacquired his education in the common and high schools. Deciding upon thepractice of medicine as a life work, he then entered Starling MedicalCollege, from which he graduated in 1876. He then went to Vienna,Austria, and in the university of that place took special work inchemistry for one year. Subsequently he spent a ear in Liepsic Germany,pursuing a specia1 course in physiology, while later he spent a similarperiod in Paris, after which he returned to his home in Columbus andbegan the practice of medicine and also was a lecturer in StarlingMedical College. In 1891 he gave up his practice and now gives hisentire time lecturing in the Ohio State University and in StarlingMedical College, his subject being physiology. He is a member of the OddFellows Society and of the Columbus and Ohio Clubs. He was marriedNovember 4, 1880, to Miss Flora Krumm, a daughter of Frederck andFrederika (Fichtner) Krumm, both of whom were natives of Germany andbecame pioneer settlers of Columbus. Dr. and Mrs. Bleile have twodaughters, Catherine and Flora, both at home.
