Reserve Ramblings

Head Chief Oe-ke-wenzie, died Monday of old age and LaGrippe. Thus passes away one of the most noted Indians of the reservation. He was known to have put out the lives of many Sioux and bore the marks of many hard combats with that tribe. He was Indian through and through. In some of his mind wanderings before death he said that he had been far off and seen many nice wigwams, thus showing where his mind dwelt. He had joined the church but reluctantly gave up Indian customs and dancing. Peace be with him.

Burial: Saint Francis Cemetery Reserve Sawyer County Wisconsin, USA
