Ailbhe Ó Monacháin also claimed unsuccessfully for service from 1 to 23 April 1916 and from 1 May 1916 to 1922. According to subject and references Ó Monacháin served as an Irish Volunteer organiser in County Cavan until served with a deportation order and imprisoned by the British authorities from October 1915 to January 1916. On his release he worked as an organiser in County Galway and assisted in preparations there for the Easter Rising going on the run after another deportation order was made against him in March. Ailbhe Ó Monacháin evaded arrest/capture after the surrender and from 1916 to 1922 he claims to have acted in various capacities for the Irish Volunteers and IRA in counties Cork, Wexford and Dublin - service was not awarded for this period. During 1922 Ó Monacháin was appointed IRA Brigade Store-Keeper, based at Charlesfort, Kinsale, County Cork and took part in fighting there during the Civil War against National Army forces in September of that year and also at Ballinhassig and Upton until arrested early in 1923. He was interned, released and rearrested in [December] and released early in 1924.
