Augustus and Estanislaus, "Gussie" and "Lossie" as they wwere commonly known, farmed the north side of Magnolia river. Although they raised horses, pigs and chickens, cattle was the main enterprise. Gussie was a widely respected herdsman who knew more about cattle and their diseases thab anyone for miles. If a farmer on the other side of the county could not dignose or cur a sick animal, they would often come to him for help. He was an able Blacksmith who made horse shoes and shod horses. At time he was called upon by Yuon Farms for his expertise. "Gussie" and "Lossie" kept a garden growing all year and fished to help feed their large family.
