    Agness was wife #1 of Edmund Waller Stephens (1777-1864)- the couple were married 31Dec1796 at St Thomas Parish, Orange County, VA.

    Agness was the daughter of Agness Smith (1738-1753) and Rev. William John Robinson (1709-1792)who were married 27Jan1757 at St Thomas Parish in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.

    Her mother, Agness Smith was the daughter of Stephen Smith and his first wife, Phoebe Hawkins. When Phoebe died, Smith married Blessing Stephens.

    Her father's will was witnessed by the man who would become her father-in-law, Benjamin Stephens.

    Edmund Waller Stephens and Agness Smith Robinson had two children: Benjamin Waller Stephens (1797-1855) was born in Orange County, VA while Dorothy Waller Stephens (1802-1844) was born in Abbeville District, SC. Several families emigrated from Orange County, VA to Abbeville District, SC about 1800. Agness' death occurred during the Stephens family disaster in 1802 when several members died of an unidentified illness - one source says it was typhoid. Also, Agness could have died of childbirth complications.
