Grand Forks Herald (ND) - April 28, 2000 Agnes Clift, 96, Devils Lake, died Tuesday, April 25, 2000, in Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake, where she had lived since 1995. Agnes Marie Papachek was born Aug. 27, 1903, the daughter of Jacob and Frances (Lestina) Papachek, in Monona, Clayton County, Iowa. In 1905, she moved with her parents near Warwick, N.D., where she attended school. She married Ralph Clift on Oct. 23, 1928, in Fort Totten, N.D. They farmed in the Warwick area. Ralph Clift died in 1948. In 1950, she moved to Devils Lake until moving to Rolla, N.D. She is survived by a daughter, Darlene (Joseph) Marquart, Rolla; sons, Milton (Rosemary), Bakersfield, Calif., and Calvin (Margie), Apollo, Pa.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Papachek and Irene Carlson, both of Warwick; and a sister-in-law, Louella Papachek, Devils Lake. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter; brothers, George, Thomas, Edward, Eugene, Bennie and Raymond; and a sister, Bessie Daniels. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Devils Lake. Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. rosary and scripture service, Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, and one hour before services in the church. Burial: Warwick Community Cemetery. |
