Rome Twp. – James Garland Shannon, age 76 passed away at his home peacefully on Friday, July 9th with his family by his side. He was born on February 27, 1945 in Cleveland the son of Garland R. and Agnes C. (McGlynn) Shannon. Jim was married to Marsha (Dorhn) Shannon on October 30, 1991. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps., then worked at Kennametal Corp., before becoming owner of Shannon’s Hartsgrove Tavern, where he was honored to serve his community for 50 years. Jim enjoyed traveling and was happiest on his Harley. He loved nature, spending time with family, reading, golfing, bowling, playing chess and playing pool. He will be mostly missed for his sense of humor and storytelling. Jim is survived by his wife Marsha, four daughters, Tracy Wade of Orwell, Kate (Curt) Marcaletti of Dover, Jen Shannon of Hartsgrove, Mellissa (Mike) Mitchell of Orwell, sisters Pat Burkett of Bristolville, Jackie (Rodney) Millikin of Orwell, six grandchildren R.J., Ashlynn, Riley, Alex (Stephen) Maddox, Lucas and great grandson Mason. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Geri Drenski, daughter Kristie Ann Shannon and brother-in-law Chuck Burkett. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Steve Arsulic will be held at Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Friday, July 16th at 11:00 a.m., with burial and military honors to follow at Sager Cemetery, Bristol Township.
