Parentage of Agnes Laforce
Agnes LaForce, who married John Mahan in Botetourt County, Virginia on 21 June 1778 [Source: Early Marriages, Wills and some Revolutionary War Records, Botetourt County, Virginia, Compiled by Anne Lowry Worrell, pg. 30]. is a very probable daughter of Rene LaForce, Sr. of Botetourt County, Virginia. She was likely named after her [probable] mother, Agnes.
Her eldest son, born shortly after her 1st marriage with John Mahan was appropriately named Rene Laforce Mahan.
Rene LaForce, Sr. had two other children, and a grandson with documented marriages in Botetourt County, Virginia. [Source: Early Marriages, Wills and some Revolutionary War Records, Botetourt County, Virginia, Compiled by Anne Lowry Worrell, pg. 28].
- Moncier LaForce, who married Catherine Sutherland, daughter of James Sutherland on Dec. 12, 1802.
- Rene LaForce, Jr., who married Anne Robinson on March 10, 1774.
- William LaForce, who married Sarah Goodwin on July 11, 1791. [Note: William was the son of Samuel LaForce, eldest son of Rene LaForce, Sr.]
This is the only known LaForce family in the Botetourt County, Virginia area during this timeframe, to the knowledge of this researcher.
