Notes for Adrion Anglin: Adrion Anglin ws born somewhere in France in 1693. Adrion came to America from France as early as 1727 or as late as 1740 to Buchingham Co. Virginia. The Anglin family name orginated in France. There is a town there called Anglin. Several sources say that Adrion was an Admirial in the French Navy and had decendents from the royal house of France and also had married on from the royal house of England. Adrion was granted several parcels of land, according to land entry records for Virginia. He is listed as a creditor to John Anglin's estate in 1927, in Hanover, Virginia (Virginia land grant book 13, pg. 19, 1721-1800) In June 1745/46 in Albemarle Co., Virginia, there was a survey made of 165 acres for Adrion Anglin. On July 20, 1748, Adrion was given a land grant for 165 acres on both sides of the Slate River in Virginia. On March 3, 1760, he received a land grant for 400 acres on the Slate River, and on August 30, 370 acres on the south side of the Slate River. All being in Albemarle Co. Virginia. Buchingham Co. was created from Albemarle Co. and Adrions land was apparently in the new county, because on April 25, 1777, he died in Buckingham Co. In the commissioners court of Albermale Co., (formed from Goochland and Lousia Co. in 1744) On September 12, 1746, a road was ordered from Meredith Maning's to the court house n Albermerle Co. this road was to be kept open by 9 men, among them was Adrion. All these men must have lived along the road and were to keep it clean of vegetation. According to the records in spoken tratitions, of Elleon Grace Davis's family, Adrion brought his son, William to America when he was 13 years old. This would make all of the children up to William born in either France or England, Adrion and his first wife, Elizabeth, had 5 children. His second wife was Mary Thornhill. They had 6 children The family stayed in Virginia until William and Ann moved to North Carolina. Their son, John, moved back to Virginia and then to Tennesee. John's son, William, moved to Monroe Co. Mississippi where that branch of the family stated until Aaron Monroe and Mary Ann (Rye) Anglin moved to Arkansas in 1850 and then to Texas in 1851.
