Facts and Events
Adonijah Newton was a soldier of the Revolutionary War. Hi service as given on Rolls; "Newton, Adonijah, Marlborough, Pvt. Capt Cyprian Howe's Company, Marched to alarm April 19, 1775, to Cambridge, Served 16 days- Company reported Discharged May 4, 1775, by order of Col. Jonathan Ward. Also, Company receipt by Capt Silas Gates, Allowence, Ect from Albany home at Marlborough, Mar 4, 1777" According to E. Leonard, in The Newton Genealogy (de Pere, Wisc., 1915) The first United States Census, 1790, states that his family there consisted of himself, one male under sixteen, and four females. In the list of inhabitants in Marlborough and number of pol;ls in each household in 1770, Adonijah Newton, 1 Poll. No settlement of his estate in Mass. Probate Court. References
