He was a farmer when married and in 1880. Obituary DURAND MAN DIES AT THE AGE OF 88 -- Year's Illness Fatal to Adelbert H. French Durand, Feb. 27 - Adelbert H. French, 88, a former Grand Trunk Western Railroad employee, died at his home here Sunday morning, following a year's illness caused by infirmities. Funeral services will be held from the Morris funeral home here Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, with the Rev. Weltie E. Baker, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be made in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. Mr. French was born in Grand Rapids, February 10, 1851, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram French and spent his earlier life in the vicinity of Farwell. He was employed at freight docks of the Grand Trunk for a number of years. He was married on June 20, 1888,to Miss Lucy Hilderbrant, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Lloyd French, of Durand; three daughters, Mrs. John French of Durand; Mrs. Ray Bellinger, of Flint, and Mrs. Ora Pratt, of Alma, and 17 grandchildren.
