Adelaide came to America on 28 Jul 1906. She was single and her father paid for her ticket. She sailed aboard the SS Lucania, from Liverpool, England and Queenstown, Ireland and arrived in New York.

She stayed with her aunt (Mary C SPARKS, child of her grandfather Thomas SPARKS, second marriage) - who emigrated to USA and married Henry William Lanhert.

Henry and Mary had a guest living with them, Harriet Hayes, (Jan 1838-16 Jan 1906), single, kindergarten teacher and immigrated in 1893. It was thought that this may be Mary's relative.

But according to the 1891 UK Census Mary C Sparks and Harriet Hayes were teaching together at the same school (Mary C. emigrated to USA c. 1893)
