Adel Mennen, age 67, of Parkersburg, was born in Butler County, near Parkersburg, Iowa, on November 5, 1938, the daughter of William and Bertha Krider Wiegmann. She received her education and graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1956. She was baptized in 1959 in Bethel Lutheran Church. Adel was united in marriage with Robert Mennen on December 11, 1959 in Bethel Lutheran Church, Parkersburg. Adel died Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Lorraine Thorne, Barbara Calkins, Kate Calvert, Louise Siebenga and Margaret Ibeling; and two brothers, Bill Wiegmann and Ed Wiegmann. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Robert Mennen, Parkersburg, Iowa; two daughters, Laurie (Bill) Batchelder, Waterloo, Iowa; Tammi (Marty) Morgan, Waterloo, Iowa; one son, Vance Mennen, Reinbeck, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jeremy Mennen, Amber Batchelder, Gabby and Hannah Morgan, Austin Mennen; one great-granddaughter, Haleigh Batchelder; one sister, Thelma (Marvin) Fleshner, Parkersburg, Iowa and one sister-in-law, Bunny Wiegmann, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Parkersburg, Iowa.
