Addie Mertie Mills, was born Apr. 1855, near Berlin, Wis., one of 7 children in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Mills.
In the spring of 1862 the Mills family immigrated to Ashland twp. Dodge Center, MN where the children all grew up. She was baptized Jan. 1869 and became a member of the SDB church in which she remained a most loyal and Christian worker until the time of her death.
Oct. 10, 1874, she was married to Wallace L. Green of Wasioja, by pastor Zuriel Campbell. Three sons were born to this union Fred W. of Bryon, Mack C. of Dodge Center and Orpheus S. of Stewartville, Minn. Besides these, she brought up from babyhood, her grandson, Lester, also of this place. The children have lovingly cared for her during her many illnesses and especially during this last most trying one.
Mrs. Greene was a loving wife and mother, a kind, thoughtful and helpful neighbor; she was always willing and anxious to help others in time of sickness being especially experienced in the use of nature remedies prayers of M/M Greene, who [error in the obit]
Mrs. Greene died of paralysis following a stroke, Mar 24, being nearly 80 years of age. Besides her 3 sons and Lester, she leaves 6 grandchildren, Clifford and Walter, Wallace and Clare and Audre and William Greene all present at the funeral, also 2 brothers, Orpheus S. Mill of Attalla, Al; Rolla J. Mills of Hammond, La and 2 sisters, Mrs. Lucy Armstrong of Minneapolis; and Mrs. Matie Sanford of this place. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1921. There is a wide circle of relatives and friends who will miss her kind and thoughtful neighborliness and love, her presence in the church and prayers to those she loved. Her family is rich in memories of her unselfish Christian life.
