Facts and Events
Of Montgomery County, Ohio. Might also have died 11 Aug 1864 in Dayton, OH. Age at death: 74 years, 11 months, 27 days. From an account written by Joseph S. Armey in 1921: "In the year 1825, Grandfather Armey emigrated from Western Virginia to the State of Ohio. Their former home was located in Botetourt County, western Virginia, in the vicinity of or near the Roanoke river. As to Grandfather's early life I know but little. He married Anna Frantz; their ancestry is a blank to me, the only knowledge I have of their nationality is that they were called Pennsylvania Dutch and talked that language. Grandfather served as a soldier in the American army at the time of the British-American War of 1812; he was honorably discharged and returned home to his young family then in Virginia; there were six children, three sons and three daughters. My father Jacob Armey was the oldest and was fourteen years of age when they emigrated to Ohio in 1825 and settled in Montgomery County, near a town by the name of Liberty. The names of their children as we learned them in my younger days were: Jacob, John and Henry; Betsey, Susey and Magdalene. I think Henry was the youngest." (Joseph S. Armey was bor 17 Feb 1836 in Union County, Indiana.) Marriage Notes for Abraham URMEY and Anna FRANTZ: Sources: 1. John Vogt & T.
