(Research):Abraham Rinehart, an old and highly respected citizen of Tipton Twp., a native of PrebleCo., Oh was born 7-6-1823. He was the second child born to David and Magdalene Fellers Rinehart. Rinehart (the former) a native of Franklin co and then later a native of Rockingham County, Va. both of German descent. The boyhood and youth of our subject wre chiefly spent upon his father's farm, during which time he attended the district schools, wher he received a good common school education. At 21 years of age he became a clerk in a store. this was in Union county, this state (Indiana) . 2 years later he resumed farming in his native county. In 1857, he immigrated to this county and located in Deer Creek Twp., In 1880 he removed to Tipton Twp., and located where he now resides in Section 16. Elizabeth Toney, a native of Union county, this state, born, of Irish and German descent. Dec 27, 1829 became his wife, Sept 29, 1849. To them 9 children were born. their names are James E., 9-20-1850; a present school teacher in Miami county, David w., born 5-3-1852; Sarah F., born 11-29, 1953 and died 2-26-1855; Obed A., born 12-9-1855; Finley P. born may 1, 1857; charles B. born 9-22-1860; Robert V. born 12-6-1862; Alma E. born April 2, 1865; and Mary A. born 10-7-1870. Mr and Mrs Rinehart and one son, Obed A. belong to the Dunkard church. James e. is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He and Charles B. are members of the I.O.O.F. Lodge.. Mr. Rinehart has been an ordained Minister in the Dunkard Church since 1865. In politics he was formerly a Democrat, but at present does not claim membership in any party.

The Toney Book gives his death as Union County, Ind --however, he was listed as living in Cass County, In and is buried there

Abraham Rinehart was a son of David Rinehart , a Deacon. He moved to Cass County, In in 1847. Here he united with the Upper Deer Creek church in 1861. In 1863, he was called to the ministry and ordained in 1870. During the next 10 years he was the presiding elder of the Upper Deer creek Church. In 1881 he moved into the Pipe Creek church, where he lived the remainder of his life. He took great interest in the mission field in the Western part of Middle Indiana He made many trips in search of isolated members, preaching to hungry souls who had little chance of hearing the Gospel. He received into fellowship many in these fields. During the last few years of his life he was quite feeble but always enjoyed visits with his Brethren.
