    IN the Name of God Amen, I, Abram Rencher of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina, being of sound and (?) mind and memory but knowing the uncertainty of life do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament

    Item 1st I give devise and bequeath to my wife Louisa M. Rencher all my real estate situated in the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina and all my stock, farming tools, household and kitchen furniture and Library for and during the term of her natural life.

    Item 2nd After the death of my wife Louisa M. Rencher, it is my will and desire that the real and personal property mentioned in item one of this will be sold and the proceeds arising from said sale be applied first to the payment of my daughter Eva, wife of R. N. Winston of the sum of One Thousand Dollars unless said one Thousand Dollars be sooner paid and after the payment, proceeds of sale of said real estate if not sold, be divided equally, share and share alike among my children, John, William, Sally and Eva.

    Item 3rd all the rest and residue of my estate both real and personal and mixed, I devise and bequeath to be sold by my executor herein named and the proceeds arising from said sale to be divided equally share and share alike between my wife, L M Rencher, and my children John, William, Sally, and Eva each taking one fifth part. Sale to be made whenever a majority of the devisees mentioned in this item shall request in writing the said executors to make said sales.

    Item 4th I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my wife L. M Rencher and my friend John Manning Executor and executrix of this my last will and testament, witness my hand and seal this Feb 8th, 1880

    A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Abram Rencher dec’d was this day offered for probation by John Manning one of the Executors named in said will, the execution of said will was duly proved by the oath and examination of R.R. Thries and L. .J Haughton the subscribing witnesses there to and said was admitted to probate and ordered to be recorded and filed. Thereupon John Manning one of the executors to said will comes into count and announces in writing his right to testify as executor in said will.

    Mrs. Louisa M. Rencher widow of Abram Rencher and who is named as executrix to the last will and testament of Abram Rencher did this day filed in writing her renunciation of her right to administer or to qualify, as Executor to the last will and testament of her husband A. Rencher

    The names of witness, Thries, and Clerk of Court, Foushee may be misspelled. Difficult to decipher the old handwriting.
    Abram was most often known as Abraham. He was buried at St. Bartholomew’s, Chatham County, N.C.
    Sally is most likely Sarah Douglas Rencher as Sally was a common nickname for Sarah.
    NOT mentioned in Abraham’s’ will are his children Mary Jones Rencher (b. 1838 d. 1841), and Mary Louisa Rencher death date unknown.
