A copyrighted newspaper clipping from the Jamestown Journal was found at genealogybank.com which was published originally on 8 May 1875 telling of the surprise celebration of Abraham's 85th birthday party attended by about 30 people who "spent a very pleasant time in recalling reminiscences of the past".

Also Jamestown Journal 17 Sep 1875 (found at genealogybank.com) tells of a nineteenth wedding anniversary party for 'Uncle' Abram Pier and Mary Ann Simmons, held at the residence of E. H. Jenner, Esq., in Busti. A party of over 100 relatives and friends gathered to do honor to "our old friend and his wife. . . 'Uncle' Abram, now in his 87th year, is enjoying moderate health for one whose life has been years of toil and activity. A pioneer, coming to this country in 1811, he has long been known as one of the hard working, honorable men who helped lay the foundation for our present prosperity. Among those present were his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Martin, Asa Marsh, a brother-in-law, and Mr. Sesbi Kidder, all early settlers with himself and many other friends of his early life who settled here later."
