According to paper written by William H. Motley in June, 1948, Abraham Motley arrived in USA in 1848, landed at Milwaukee Oct 2 1848, came to Mineral Point by stage arriving Oct 10 1848.

Had a brother, Charles, that came to America, and was a policeman in Chicago during the Chicago Fire (1871). He also had some sisters, but they remained in England.

Later he homsteaded land four and a half miles south of Mineral Point and farmed it. He lived on Shake Rag Street.
