His full name was probably Abraham, and he probably lived in Jefferson Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. He is probably the same Abraham Lorenz listed as one of the 1849 members of the just reorganized "Zion's Congregation". There was also a Nikolas Lorenz (a brother?) listed as one of the adult male members of the congregation. Nothing is known of Nikolas, nor of the several other Lorenz names in the Zion's book.

The origins of the Lorenz surname are not known. Perhaps they were Palatines, since they seem to have been members of the German Reformed Church. They seem to be only associated with Tuscarawas County. In the WeRelate.org program, there are 24 of them listed. In this complier's "Legacy Program", there are only 2 associated with Stone Creek.
