Charles Chrisman has that they came to Lawrence County, Missouri on september 17, 1857

Charles Chrisman tells the story of digging in the cemetery one day trying to reset the foot marker for one of Abner's daughters when his shovel hit something solid several feet underground. He knew that they did not have vaults at the time and so he dug it up. It was the headstone of Abner Chrisman six feet under ground. There had been a big flood in 1905(?) that almost wiped out the cemetery. It is supposed the tombstone got buried at this point.
