James Greene, b. at Centreville, R. I., 1755. He was a captain in the Revolutionary war. He m. 1st, 17, 11, 1782, Rebecca, dau. of Sanders Pitman, who d. 7, 7, 1806, aged 44; m. 2nd, Mercy, dau. of Capt. William Waterman, of Warwick, R.I.. He d. in Centreville, 14, 10, 1825, and Mercy d. 28, 2, 1851, aged 71. Capt. James Greene's dau. Mercy m. William Anthony, and they were the parents of Hon. Henry B. Anthony, who was for many years a U. S. senator from Rhode Island.
