Mrs. James McCosh, aged 69 years, died very suddenly on Sunday morning, at her home in Smithfield township, from rheumatism of the heart. She had suffered from the disease for a long time, but as it had never attacked the vitals, serious consequences were not apprehended until the fatal moment arrrived, when she expired in her chair.

The funeral took place from the family residence on Tuesday, and her remains were buried at Hamilton. She was an estimable woman in all the relations of life. Her aged husband, a large family of grown children, and many neighbors and friends mourn her sudden taking away. (Re: Waterloo Press - 10 Feb 1881)
