Abigail Ball Daughter of Nathaniel Ball and Sarah his wife was born July 26: 1712.
↑ Much injustice is done to Abigail by various sources. Her father's will in 1748 names daughter Abigail Stearns, forgiving a debt owed by her husband Eleaz'r Stear[n]s [Middlesex Probate 918]. Littleton Records show Eleazer and Abigail as parents of 10 children from 1734 to 1755. Source:Van Wagenen, Avis Stearns. Genealogy and Memoirs of Isaac Stearns and His Descendants, p. 56, gives Eleazer Stearns two wives: one Abigail --- being mother of the first three children, and the second wife Mary --- being mother of three more. This error is apparently the result of relying on a 1741 warning out that names Eleazer Stearns and wife Mary, so Abigail is assumed incorrectly to have died by 1741. This ignores 10 recorded births naming a mother Abigail (and of course her father's will showing she was alive and married to Eleazer Stearns in 1748). Source:Goss, Paul H. Goss Family History, p. 18, says John Goss married Abigail Ball of Bolton, and on p. 96 says Phillip Goss married her sister Hannah Ball of Bolton, which makes John's wife this Abigail Ball. This Abigail clearly did not marry John Goss, as is shown by her father's will, though another Abigail Ball did (her cousin) in 1744 and John Goss died in 1747 leaving the cousin Abigail Goss to administer his estate and later marry William Fife.
