The Rev. Aaron Whittemore graduated from Harvard and became the first pastor of the Congregational Church in Pembroke, NH in November, 1735. He had a garrison house, and was a Lieutenant in the French and Indian War. Peter was the youngest of their eight children (John 1746, Aaron 1747, Judith 1748, Benjamin 1750, Esther 1752 [married Jeremiah Hall and the Rev. Joseph Woodman], Sarah 1754, Ruth 1756 [married Deacon David Kimball], and Peter. The Rev. Aaron was the first Whittemore to go to college.
