Aaron Shellenbarger son of Abraham Shellenbarger and Dorothy Doile (Doyle) traveled with his parents from Knox County, Ohio, where he was born, to Henry County, Ohio about 1849. Aaron married Elizabeth Knapp in Henry County, Ohio, 1851. They had one son, John, who died in infancy and a daughter,Margaret before they ventured north into Ionia County, Michigan in 1855. Aaron lived and died within a mile of his first land purchase in the untamed land.
