- THOMAS RASBERRY B @ 1785 (1850 Union Parrish La Census says Ga and 1860 Ashley Co. Ark Census says S.C.)
- M: 1st unknown (one possibility is someone from the Spears Family as he and Alexander Spears are in close proximity in Morgan Co., Ga., before moving together to Bibb County, Al. She died between 1830 & 1840. Another clue as to the identity of his 1st wife is that in Morgan Co. Georgia Inferior Court minutes 1808-1822 PG 94 there is an entry "The court continued the allowance of twenty-five dollars for year for John Tanner an infermed man which sum is to be appropriated to his use under care and direction of Thomas Rasberry." This could be his father-n-law.)
- M: 2nd Ruth Spears Nov 22, 1841 (Bibb Co. Al Mrg Bk D Pg 211)
- CHILDREN OF THOMAS RASBERRY and ?????:
- 1. SARAH RASBERRY B. 14 June 1804 M: 5 Feb. 1822 John Goodgame Marg Bk Loose Records File G., Bibb Co., Al D: 17 Sept 1889 buried Williams Cemetery, Chilton County, Al. Information provided by Elizabeth Collins. This not in Bible nor have I researched.
- 2. GREEN RASBERRY B: 1806 M: 7 Oct 1827 Rebecca Maryanne Barrett recorded in family Bible in my posession and also Bibb Co Records Bk A-B Pg 175 consent of her father Richard Barrett. D: 10 March 1863 (recorded in family bible) of typhoid Fever while serving CSA in Richmond Va.
- 3. MADISON "MAJOR" RASBERRY B. 1809 M: 12 Feb 1830 to Elizabeth Hubbard (Bibb Co. Bk B Page 78 consent of Thomas Rasberry) D. 2 May 1890 (family bible and Chilton View News, Chilton Co., Al)
- 4. MARTHA RASBERRY B. 19 March 1812 M:John Ryan Price 18 Feb. 1830 (Bibb Co., Bk B Page 78) D: 23 April, 1884 buried Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chilton Co., Al.
- 5. MARY ANN "POLLY" RASBERRY B. abt 1814 (info from Barbara McGough Davis, Merkel, Tx.,) M. 20 Oct 1832 Bibb Co., Bk B Pg 78 James Madison McGough.
- 6. ALY (ALEZ, ALEX) RASBERRY B. 1817 M: 8 Jan 1838 Bibb Co. Bk D Page 84 (Consent of Thomas for son) Joyce Ann Barrett (a sister of Rebecca Maryanne Barrett married to #2 above) information from Beverly Hannaford, Derma Ms.
- 7. PURITY RASBERRY B. abt 1819 M: 24 Jan 1838 (9?) Autauga Cty, Al., Aly Rasberry Bondsman to William Moss (Note: The last reference I have on Thomas is in the 1860 Ashley Co., Ark Census and he is living with this couple. I have followed him through Scott Co., Ms, Union Parish La, and into Ashley County Ark. all documented to prove it to be my Thomas)
- 8. MELISSA "LISHA" RASBERRY B. 19 April 1822 Headstone New Salem Bapt Church, Chilton Co., Al M; Dolby N. Riggins 10 Mar 1842 Bibb Co. Al, Bk D Pg 211 D: 4 Feb 1902
- 9. LUTTICIA RASBERRY B. abt 1827 M: 27 June 1843 Bibb Co., Mrg BK D Pg 253 Wiley Moss. (No death date)
- 10. THOMAS RASBERRY B: 1825/26 (1850 Al Census and 1870 Census Ashley Co., Ark) M: 7 Aug 1848 Shelby Co., Al Mrg Bk 1 Pg 301 Mary Hayes the daughter of Enoch Hayes
- 11. There is another child according to the 1830 Bibb Co., Al., Census records. It is a female under 5. In the 1850 Union Parish La Census there is a child Sarah 19 b. Al., recorded with Thomas and Ruth. This causes a problem if child #1 is named Sarah as ascerted by Elizabeth Collins why is this child named Sarah as well? Would Thomas have named 2 daughters Sarah? I have questioned if Sarah Rasberry married to John Goodgame is the daughter of Thomas Rasberry and have been told that the marriage license in Bibb Co., Al., reads "Thomas Rasberry for his daughter Sarah". I have never seen this license. I do not know. This is a mystery. I have not researched this Sarah as to a marriage etc. The mystery may be solved with further research into her.
- Daniel Rasberry of Green County Alabama's family
- Will dated 24 July 1834 names: wife Nancy Rasberry
- Son: Reddin Y Rasberry (Note: Married Martha Garrett, these are Bennie White's ancestors)
- Son: Green Rasberry (Note: This Green Married Mary (?Campbell?) and moved to Choctaw Co. Ms)
- G-Dau Mary Ann Rasberry (Note: married Wm. Stephens)
- Dau: Adeline Rasberry (Note: married John Pool)
- Dau: Nancy Moore (Note: Married Samuel Moore)
- Dau: Elizabeth Edwards (Note; Daniel must not have trusted Elizabeth's husband. He left her 10 acres of land in the care of her brother Green Rasberry and Brother-in-law Samuel Moore. She sold her land to Sister Nancy. Recorded Green Co., Al Bk H 181-182-183. Notarized Sumpter Co., Al Town of Gainesville 30 Oct. 1834)
- Son: Joseph Rasberry (Note: 1st wife unknown 2nd Lucinda Reynolds) Joseph Rasberry of Green County, Al married Lucinda Reynolds 6 Aug 1838 Mrg Bk B pg 209. This must have been a 2nd marriage because in the 1850 census he has children born before this wedding date.
- Son: William Rasberry
- There is a John J. Rasberry in Green County, Al at this time. He married Luvenia Moore 2 May 1835 and they had two sons John W. Rasberry and Nathaniel Rasberry. John J. died and his will was read on May 22, 1837. Jordan Moore was made the guardian of the children and administrator of the estate. Widow Luvenia Rasberry married Charner Colvin 4 March 1841. This John J. RAsberry is young enough to be a son of Daniel but he is not listed in Daniels will so therefore must not be assumed to be a son. I do not know the relationship.
- Another Rasberry that needs correction is Joseph married to Mary "Polly" Shaw.
- The Joseph Rasberry of Clark Co and later Walton Co., Ga/. who was married to Mary "Polly" Shaw is not the same Joseph as the son of Daniel of Green County, Al., that we have been talking about above.
- Joseph Rasberry married Polly Shaw 19 Dec. 1812 in Clark Co., Ga., mrg Bk A Page J. She was the daughter of William Shaw and a member of Mars Hill Bapt Church Clarke Cty Ga. Joseph died in 1830 in Walton Co., Ga. Mary Rasberry was made guardian of their children, Angelina Purity Rasberry, Josiah P. Rasberry, George W. Rasberry and John C. Rasberry. Older children were Isaac Rasberry and Emily Rasberry. All of the estate is trasmitted from Walton Co Ga to Tallapoosa Co Al for distribution to Mary as the guardian of the children. Vouchers dated 7 March 1831 show cash of $294.50 from John Power, Obediah Owen, Reubin Rasberry, Nathan Shaw, David Johnston, and Daniel Rasberry (don't assume this to be the same as the Daniel in Green Co., Al but most likely there is some connection). This Joseph married to Mary "Polly" Shaw must have been a businessman. There are many records of payments being forwarded to the widow from those who owed the estate. Mary also got a pension from Joseph's 1812 military service. His captain was Col. Thomas of the Georgia Militia. Her warrant was sent to her in care of her son George W. Rasberry, Dadeville, Al. in 1855.
- I have much more on these families but this should be enough documentation to verify that Joseph Rasberry the son of Daniel Rasberry of Green Co., Al is not the same as Joseph Rasberry married Mary "Polly" Shaw of Clark Co., Ga., later Tallapoosa, Al.
- Typing so many dates at one sit-down was tedious. I hope I have not made a typo. If you see anything questionable, please let me know so that I can second check it before you "put it in ink".
- This is lengthy but maybe it will help.
- If you put any of this on the net, please let people know that it is not to be copied to be published for profit.
- I have received some leads from other researchers, but most of mine comes from personal knowledge, by bible, my money spent on trips to courthouses, libraries, cemeteries, etc. and I share without charge. I do not appreciate those who sell it.
